Sustainable materials
For our slippers, we only use vegetable-tanned, chrome-free organic leather from Germany, from IVN-certified tanneries.
The natural leathers are regularly tested for harmful substances by independent institutes according to IVN guidelines.
Our raw leather hides are a renewable raw material and come predominantly from southern German cattle. They are a waste product of meat production in predominantly southern German slaughterhouses. This avoids long transport routes and thus harmful preservatives.
Fair and ecological production
All Orangenkinder® house, crawling, and barefoot shoes are manufactured under strict, socially fair, and ecological conditions in our factory in Bavaria – made in Germany.
We value supply chain transparency

Our street shoes are made from the finest, vegetable-tanned leathers from Germany and Tuscany by our cooperation partners in Portugal.
Environmental awareness
The hides are processed in German tanneries in compliance with strict EU guidelines. Renewable vegetable tanning agents such as tara pods and valonea oak are used for this purpose.
During the production of the shoes, we try to avoid waste as much as possible – leather scraps are processed into doll shoes or keychains, and cardboard boxes are reused whenever possible, or stamped into cardboard hangers where possible.
Unnecessary packaging made of plastic is avoided as standard.
Our shoes are 99% compostable.
